Uh, best way to describe it is-absolutely nuts.
Let's see, where to start..
First of all, you drive on the left side of the road here, and the steering wheel is on the right.
This is the first time I've ever driven on the left side of the road.
I've only gone down the wrong side of the road once so far, so not too bad I guess!
I've already driven 300 miles or more in the past two days so I've got the hang of it now...
Secondly no traffic rules are enforced or obeyed. At all.
Motorcycles cut in between cars constantly, people pass me on the right and left because I refuse to drive above 80 km an hour. (slow here)
I had my speedometer up to 100 km at one point, and I was holding up traffic. I'm not kidding at all. (now that I think of it 100 km pr hour is only around 75 mph I think, so I guess that's not to crazy)
You get used to honks, it's not rude here, in fact it appears any traffic rule can be broken here as long as long as you give a little "beep-beep" to your neighbor before you squeeze down the center line between two lanes of traffic at 120 kmh.
Unbelievable.
Yet it seems to work ok, everyone just honks constantly.
Young mothers on scooters with 2 year old babies in there lap and no helmets or shoes, passing me on the wrong side, or between me and oncoming traffic at 65 mph...
Driving on the left has it's own set of difficulties you wouldnt expect.
For instance, when I pull into a gas station or anywhere I have to fight the impulse to swerve the right to avoid oncoming cars. You'd be surprised how ingrained moving to the right is when you encounter a culture taught to move to the left...
